Position

The position of the frequency adverbs is flexible, but basically these are the rules:

  • Ogni giorno (ogni mattina, ogni sera,…) often stands at the end of the sentence: Faccio colazione ogni mattina.
  • Sempre comes after the verb: Faccio sempre colazione.
  • Di solito is at the beginning of the sentence: Di solito faccio colazione.
  • Spesso comes after the verb, but it can also be placed at the beginning of the sentence: Faccio spesso colazione; Spesso faccio colazione.
  • Raramente, qualche volta and ogni tanto can be at the beginning or end of the sentence: Faccio colazione raramente; Raramente faccio colazione.
  • With non … mai, the verb is in between: Non faccio mai colazione.

How often do you eat breakfast? Write the numbers from 1 to 5, ordering the sentences from most frequent to least frequent.
