Frequently asked questions and the answers
Do you have any questions about our online bookshop, your order, payment methods or special conditions for teachers or schools?
Then you’ve come to the right place, because we’ve already compiled the answers to the most frequently asked questions for you.
Order and payment
We offer the following payment methods: PayPal, Klarna SOFORT, Klarna invoice purchase, Apple Pay, credit card payment (Mastercard, Visa) and SEPA bank transfer (prepayment).
For many European countries, we also have local payment methods such as iDEAL or Bancontact available in the checkout.

Shipping costs depend on the order value and the country.
For Germany we deliver free of charge from 19 Euro order value. Below that, there is always a flat shipping fee of 2.90 Euro.
We deliver orders over 80 Euro to Austria and Italy free of charge. However, for orders with a value of less than 80 Euro we have to charge a shipping fee of 8.90 Euro.
For shipping to Switzerland and Great Britain, there is always a flat-rate shipping fee of 15.90 Euro, regardless of the order value.

Please let us know in the comments at the checkout if your order is a gift. We then leave out the packing slip and are happy to add a nice greeting.
Delivery and shipping
We ship to the following EU countries: Germany, Austria and Italy. Shipping to other EU countries is unfortunately no longer possible due to the requirements of the Product Safety Regulation for the translation of manufacturer information and safety instructions into the respective official languages.
Outside the EU, we also deliver to Switzerland and the UK.
We only deliver to the EU countries listed by us as well as Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
We ship orders within 1-2 days with DHL and Deutsche Post.
Experience shows that the orders arrive at our customers in Germany approximately 1 to 3 working days after handover to the delivery service provider.
The shipping time for orders outside Germany but within Europe can vary between 2 and 15 business days and depends strongly on the respective regional shipping service provider.
You will automatically receive a tracking number with the shipping confirmation.
Please check the status of your shipment in the tracking and if anything unusual happens there, write us a message at shop@italiano-bello.com and we will take care of it.
Shipping returns
Our refund and returns policy lasts 14 days.

Please send the item in its original packaging if possible (if there is product packaging, this is usually not the case with books) and with an invoice so that we can allocate the order:

If your item was shipped within the cancellation period and arrived in its original condition, you will receive a refund within a few days through your chosen payment method.
If you have not received a refund or email from us after a few days, please drop us a line at: shop@italiano-bello.com
If you have paid shipping costs for your purchase, they will not be refunded. We can only refund the value of the goods.
Shipping for the return to us is also at your own expense.
If the return is particularly valuable, we recommend that you choose a shipment with a tracking number, otherwise we cannot guarantee that the return will reach us.

Assortment
Please ask us directly if we can order your desired book or product. In principle, we can procure all books and products from all publishers that we also have in our assortment. You can find the complete list here: brands and publishers. However, other publishers are not excluded.
An order for a book or product that we do not currently have in stock will take approximately 4-5 days (German publishers) or 2-3 weeks (import from Italy).

If your desired book or product is sold out, click on the "Email me when available" button and enter your email address to be notified when it is back in stock. We reorder regularly and try not to have any items sold out if possible.
Fixed book prices and book imports
The fixed book price system is a statutory price system for books and similar products in Germany. So every book has an unchangeable price and cannot cost more or less, no matter where you buy it.
The legal basis is the Book Price Fixing Act (Buchpreisbindungsgesetz), which obliges publishers to set binding retail prices for their new publications, which serves to protect books as a cultural asset.
Some books are excluded from the Book Price Fixing Act in Germany, such as defective copies, used books, older books or outdated editions, and of course foreign books that must first be imported for the German market.
It can happen that you buy an Italian book and the price you pay is a bit more expensive than the original price on the book. The reason is that unfortunately we have to cover import costs and do not get enough discounts. However, we always try to make fair prices and increase them only as much as necessary.
By the way, in Italy books are exempt from VAT, whereas in Germany there is an additional 7% reduced VAT rate.
Schools and educational institutions
We are happy to grant quantity discount! Here's what the allowed discounts* look like for price-bound books:
- 11 to 25 copies = 8 % discount
- 26 to 99 copies = 10 % discount
- 100 to 149 copies = 15 % discount
- 150 to 199 copies = 20 % discount
- from 200 copies = 25 % discount
*The discount is applied to the net retail price
For foreign language books without fixed book prices, we can also arrange individual discounts for smaller quantities and for teachers, depending on the publisher.
For schools and educational institutions we allow convenient collective orders with appropriate discounts and also special conditions for imported books and of course purchase on account with a payment term of 30 days.
We already have a wide range of books permanently in stock, but we can also easily provide the desired books at transparent conditions.

Review copies are usually available directly from the publisher.
However, we are pleased to be able to offer teachers review copies for Loescher Editore, Ornimi, Edilingua and Bello Books.

We support the local bookstores and offer a selection of publishers for retail in Germany and partly also all over Europe at typical fair book trade conditions.

We also offer imports from Italian children's book publishers such as Coccole Books and Storybox for bookstores at fair conditions.
