Il diluvio universale

Il Signore era arrabbiato con gli uomini perché erano diventati cattivi. Allora ha deciso di mandare un diluvio e di eliminarli tutti, tranne Noè, un uomo buono, e la sua famiglia. Così ha parlato con Noè e gli ha ordinato di costruire una grande arca. Quando è iniziato il diluvio, Noè ha fatto salire sull’arca la sua famiglia e una coppia di animali per ogni specie. Il diluvio è durato quaranta giorni e le acque hanno coperto tutta la Terra. Solo l’arca galleggiava sulle acque. Dopo quaranta giorni, l’arca si è fermata sulla cima del monte Ararat. Noè ha liberato un corvo, che però non è tornato. Poi ha liberato una colomba, che è tornata tenendo nel becco un rametto d’ulivo. Il diluvio era finalmente finito!

The Lord was angry with the people because they had become wicked. So he decided to send a flood and wipe them all out except Noah, a good man, and his family. So he spoke to Noah and told him to build a great ark. When the flood began, Noah let his family and a few animals of each kind onto the ark. The flood lasted forty days and the waters covered the whole earth. Only the ark floated on the water. After forty days, the ark stopped at the top of Mount Ararat. Noah released a raven, but it did not return. Then he released a dove that returned with an olive branch in its beak. The flood was finally over!
