È un giorno d’autunno, fuori piove e fa freddo. La mamma di Franz legge sul divano, davanti al camino, e beve un tè caldo. Il gatto Franz dorme sul divano, vicino a lei. Ma la mamma di Franz dorme sempre troppo poco, per questo è sempre stanca. Infatti, mentre legge, si addormenta.

All‘improvviso si sveglia. È notte fonda ed è molto buio… La mamma di Franz vede una strana figura bianca sopra il tavolo. E un’altra sotto il tavolo! E un‘altra fuori dalla finestra! E ci sono tre figure bianche tra il televisore e l‘armadio!

La mamma di Franz cerca i suoi occhiali – è cieca come una talpa senza gli occhiali. Ah eccoli, dietro il divano! Si mette gli occhiali e subito capisce che cosa sono quelle figure: sono dei fantasmi!

«Benvenuti a casa mia! Non andate via, siete molto carini.» Ma lei è molto stanca e si riaddormenta subito. La mattina, quando si sveglia… I fantasmi non ci sono più. Che peccato!

Aber die Mama von Franz schläft immer zu wenig, deshalb ist sie immer müde. Während sie liest, schläft sie tatsächlich ein. Plötzlich wacht sie auf. Es ist spät nachts und es ist stockdunkel… Die Mama von Franz sieht eine seltsame weiße Figur über dem Tisch. Und noch eine unter dem Tisch! Und noch eine draußen vor dem Fenster! Und zwischen dem Fernseher und dem Schrank sind drei weiße Gestalten! Die Mama von Franz sucht ihre Brille – ohne Brille ist sie blind wie ein Maulwurf. Ah, da ist sie, hinter der Couch! Sie setzt ihre Brille auf und begreift sofort, was diese Figuren sind: Es sind Gespenster!
»Willkommen in meinem Haus! Geht nicht weg, ihr seid sehr hübsch.« Aber sie ist sehr müde und schläft gleich wieder ein. Morgens als sie aufwacht… sind die Gespenster verschwunden. Wie schade!

It is an autumn day, it is raining and it is cold outside. Franz’s mom reads on the sofa in front of the fireplace and drinks a hot tea. Tomcat Franz sleeps on the sofa next to her. But Franz’s mom never sleeps enough, so she is always tired. While she reads, she actually falls asleep.
Suddenly she wakes up. It is late at night and it is pitch dark… Franz’s mom sees a strange white shape above the table. And another one under the table! And another one outside the window! And between the television and the cupboard there are three white shapes! Franz’s mom looks for her glasses – without glasses she is blind like a bat. Ah, there they are, behind the couch! She puts on her glasses and immediately understands what these figures are: They are ghosts!
«Welcome to my house! Don’t go away, you are very pretty.»
But she is very tired and falls asleep right away. In the morning when she wakes up… the ghosts are gone. What a pity!
