La Pimpa is a red spotted dog and the title character of the Italian cartoon series of the same name by Francesco Tullio Altan.
Altan created the figure for his daughter, who had asked him to draw her a dog. In 1975, he made his debut in the weekly Corriere dei Piccoli and the series became one of the most popular of the time in Italy. In 1980, an animated series was also created, inspired by the comic itself.
