«Siamo arrivati» dice Capitan Castoro.

«Salve, agente!» dice Capitan Castoro allegramente.
Uno dei lupi fa alcuni passi avanti. “Buongiorno, Capitano.”
Agente?

Incredibile! La polizia del bosco esiste davvero! Penso osservando affascinata questi grandi e bellissimi lupi.

TRADUZIONE

13. The forest police

The eagles fly lower and lower and finally lay gently the raft on the river, close to the shore. The pirates drop the anchor and the raft stops.
«We have arrived» says Captain Beaver. «From here you must continue on foot, the village is not far away. You only have to follow the path.»
A few meters from the shore, between the trees of the forest and the bushes, there is a small path.

Cody and I are getting ready to go down and also Mom tries to stand up, but she can’t. She’s very weak and can’t move her leg. It must be broken. Damn, that’s not good!*
With the beavers’ help, we can get her ashore, but we can’t make it to the village… What can we do?

And while I think of a possible solution, a wolf appears from behind the trees. Or rather, two wolves. Three, four, five, six… a dozen** wolves!
That’s all we need*… I think exasperated. How many animals live in this place?
«Hello, Officer!» says Captain Beaver cheerfully.
One of the wolves takes a few steps forward. «Good morning, Captain.»
Officer? Don’t tell me these are…
«A deer informed us of an accident at the river» says the wolf. «I see it’s about a human. Usually we don’t meddle in human affairs, but this time we’ll make an exception, since two dogs are involved…» he says looking at me and Cody.

Unbelievable! The forest police are real! I think, watching fascinated these big and beautiful wolves.

*The expressions questa non ci voleva and ci mancava solo questa are very similar and can both be translated as “That all I needed” or “That was the last thing I needed”. Or, in the alternative, “this is not good”.
**Una decina means liteally about ten.
