La storia di Rudolph

Episodio 1

In a faraway land in the cold North, where the snow is whiter and the nights longer, there is a small village of reindeer. Some of these help Santa Claus to distribute the gifts in all the houses. They love playing with the snow, running, jumping. Up there, with his parents, lives the little Rudolph.

All reindeer have a shiny brown nose, Rudolph is different: his nose is big and red, he sparkles during the day, he is bright at night! Every time Rudolph feels embarrassed he becomes even more red!

Rudolph is a very good reindeer, and his biggest dream is to pull Santa’s sleigh, to make all the children happy, but with his big red nose, he is afraid of not being suitable.

The poor Rudolph sometimes tries to hide his nose, covering it with mud, but after a while the mud crumbles, and it’s discovered. The other reindeer always make fun of him: «Rudolph’s nose is really a sight! It looks like a light bulb! Red as a turnip!»

So Rudolph never plays with them, he hides, is always alone and often cries. He is only happy in his little house, in the company of his mother and father, who encourage and help him. Thanks to them, Rudolph always hopes that things will go better.

Episodio 2

On Christmas Eve, in the village of reindeer descend a grey and heavy fog. Rudolph looks at it amazed, it is so thick that you can only see his bright nose! In the North Pole, even Santa Claus seems very worried about the bad weather. There are neither stars nor moon to guide his sleigh in the dark.

It’s gonna be hard to get through the fog, thinks Santa Claus. We have to fly slow and low so we don’t get lost.
So he calls his eight favorite reindeer to himself: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer und Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner und Blitzen!
«Look at the fog, it’s very thick, we have to be careful tonight! Come quick, or we won’t be able to deliver the gifts in time!»
The reindeer immediately prepare in front of the sleigh, Santa Claus loads the last presents, and in a few minutes the sleigh rises in the air. Santa Claus and the reindeer try to follow the few lights they see, but at each step they risk to get lost more and more.

That evening, Rudolph is alone in his room and is getting ready to receive his Christmas gift by putting a sock at the foot of his bed. He puts himself under the blanket hoping to see his dream come true one day.

Santa’s sleigh wanders lost in the fog, the eight reindeer are tired of running aimlessly, and poor Santa doesn’t know where to go. At a certain point, however, he glimpses something bright, not far away. He decides to go closer and sees a very small house, where a beautiful red light comes out of a window. Who knows what it will be!

Episodio 3

Santa enters the house to see where that beautiful red light comes from. He opens the door of the bedroom and finds Rudolph, who snores peacefully. Santa looks at him amazed and immediately has a great idea, the best idea ever! He slowly wakes up little Rudolph, and asks him if, with his big red nose, he can help him find his way to deliver the children’s gifts on time.

«The night is almost over, and we must hurry!» he exclaims worried.

So Rudolph writes a short note for his parents: Dear Mom and Dad, don’t worry, I’m helping Santa. Signed: Rudolph.
And they leave immediately, with Rudolph on top of the eight reindeer, leading the sleigh with a proud red light. So Santa Claus goes from house to house, from country to country, travelling all around the world. And in a few hours they manage to finish their deliveries and return home, just before dawn…

Episodio 4

Santa Claus tells all the villagers: «Without Rudolph I would never have been able to deliver all the presents tonight, I thank him and I hope you will treat him like a dear friend from now on.»

All the reindeer of the village acclaim him, and they would like him to say something, but Rudolph, red of shame, can only say shyly «Merry Christmas to all!» and since he was very sleepy he also said «Good night!». So all the reindeer, Santa Claus and Rudolph’s family celebrate together, and from that day on Rudolph is happy: his dream has come true!
