Dopo aver fatto alcuni calcoli esclamò: «Pesi 7,7 chili! Due mesi fa pesavi 7 chili e già erano troppi. Franz, devi dimagrire!

«Franz, tu tiri a sinistra e io a destra» disse lui risoluto. Oh no!

It was a typical summer morning and I woke up in a good mood. I stretched and looked out the window at the clear blue sky. It’s going to be a beautiful day, as usual! I thought, not realizing that this was going to be one of the worst days of my life!
After eating my favorite dry food, I jumped on the window sill and watched the birds singing in the trees. But after only half an hour, my stomach began to growl. I was so hungry!
So I jumped off the window sill and went back to the kitchen to tell mom that I needed more dry food: meow meow meeeow!
She sighed: «But Franz, how can you always be hungry, you just had breakfast!»
She took me in her arms and immediately complained, «»Jeez, how much you weigh! Have you gained weight again?»
She put me back on the floor, went into the bathroom and came back a few seconds later with a scale in her hand. She put it on the floor and stepped on it, then came down, picked me up and stepped on it again with me. She always did this to weigh me because I didn’t like getting on the scale by myself. I didn’t care at all how much I weighed. Besides, I was too big for that tiny scale – too big, not too fat!
After doing the math, she exclaimed: «You weigh 7.7 kilos! Two months ago you weighed 7 kilos and that was already too much. Franz, you have to lose weight! From now on, no more snacks.»
I had no idea about kilos, but…. Lose weight? No, no, I didn’t want to lose weight, I liked to eat, and I liked my belly, on which one could sleep so well!

«Come on Franz, to lose weight, you have to move a little too. Let’s go for a walk!» she said and opened the patio door to the garden. Normally I liked to go for a walk with my mom, but that morning I was already so exhausted. Just the thought of dieting made me tired! I lay down on the carpet and closed my eyes. But mom didn’t give up. «Come on, Franz, let’s go!»
I sighed, got up and went out with her. But I was tired and didn’t feel like walking, my stomach was empty and I was hungry! I saw a nice spot in the shade of a tree, lay down again and closed my eyes. Mom resigned and went back into the house.

But I couldn’t sleep because my stomach was growling. What could I do? Mama had decided to let me starve! I decided to take a walk through the neighborhood. Maybe I’ll find food somewhere. I walked around for over an hour looking for food, but couldn’t find anything.  I was about to turn back when I noticed a large package outside the neighbor’s door. What could it be? I approached and sniffed it carefully. What a delicious smell! Of course, this must be the cat food that the neighbors always order on the Internet. Perfect, this food will save me from the diet!
I immediately tried to open it with my teeth and claws. I tried again and again with all the strength of my hungry and weakened body, but…. Nothing. I couldn’t get it open. What could I possibly do? I realized that I needed help. Sissi! I had to find him!

I looked for him everywhere, and finally I found him in our garden, where he was taking a nap. «Sissi, help me! I’m starving, Mom said I have to lose weight and she won’t give me any food, and there’s a package of cat food outside the neighbor’s door, but I can’t open it!» I said in one breath.

Sissi opened his eyes and looked at me as if I was crazy. He was very upset because I had broken a very important rule for cats: don’t disturb us when we are sleeping. Sissi thought about it for a moment and finally came to the conclusion that eating was more interesting than napping after all.
He yawned, stretched, and finally followed me to the neighbor’s door, where he examined the package thoroughly. «Franz, you pull left and I pull right» he said firmly. We began to pull and I felt the paper begin to tear. We’re almost there! I thought excitedly. But then I heard another noise. It was the neighbors’ car coming home. Oh no! Sissi and I quickly hid in the garden and watched as the neighbors carried the precious package into the house. Drat!
After all that effort, I was even more tired and hungry than before!
Sissi shrugged his shoulders. «Well, mission failed. I’ll go my way» and disappeared into the bushes.
I was so sad and tired that I curled up under the bush and fell asleep on the spot.

Epilogue: Mom is speaking

One day I decided to put Franz on a diet because he had gained quite a bit of weight. But then he was gone all day, and I was really worried! When he finally came home, he looked very sad. He looked at me with his big round eyes and meowed in a low voice. I couldn’t resist that look, so I filled up his bowl with a mega portion of his favorite dry food. Franz’s face lit up and he meowed happily: meow meow meeeow

Diet was probably not for Franz. Since that day, I haven’t talked to Franz about diets or losing weight anymore. Now Franz is a rather chubby, but happy cat.
