Il padre di Cuno e Aia racconta loro di aver visto, una volta, una balena gigantesca, sei volte più grande della loro casa. Da allora, Cuno non fa che sognare di vederla e, una mattina, decide di prendere il kayak di suo padre e scivola silenzioso nella baia; vuole andare a cercare la balena nell’immensità delle acque artiche. I gabbiani volano sulla sua testa e, nel silenzio, non si sente che lo splash ritmato dei remi. Ma, a un tratto, Cuno si rende conto che la sua sorellina lo ha seguito nascosta nel kayak e non vede l’ora di prendere parte all’avventura. Cuno non è affatto contento ma non immagina quanto Aia sarà importante nell’incredibile, commovente, scoperta che li aspetta.

Cuno and Aia’s father tells them that he once saw a giant whale six times bigger than their house. One morning, Cuno decides to take his father’s kayak and glide silently into the bay to search for a whale in the endless expanse of Arctic waters. Seagulls fly over his head, and in the silence only the rhythmic splash of the oars can be heard. But suddenly Cuno notices that his little sister has followed him, hiding in the kayak and looking forward to the adventure. Cuno is not happy at all, but he cannot imagine how important Aia will be to the incredible, moving discovery that awaits them.
