Condizionale presente

Let’s learn the condizionale presente in Italian! How and when is it used?

The condizionale presente in Italian

Potresti chiudere la finestra?Could you close the window?

Formation

To form the condizionale presente you have to cut off the ending -are, -ere or -ire as usual. This way you get the so-called verb stem. Then you have to add the corresponding condizionale ending. The endings for ARE and ERE are the same, in IRE only the e changes to i.
