The Passato Prossimo
Ho fatto la spesa.
The passato prossimo consists of the auxiliary verb essere or avere and the past participle of the main verb, formed with the endings -ato (are), -uto (ere) or -ito (ire). If the passato prossimo has the auxiliary verb essere, you need to adjust the endings to gender and number, as for adjectives ending in o, a, i, e. With the auxiliary verb avere, the ending remains unchanged at -o.

Important: All reflexive verbs in the passato prossimo have ESSERE. The ending must then be adjusted.
