Bellissimo! The absolute superlative

Let’s learn how to build words like bellissimo and buonissimo, that is, the absolute superlative (it. superlativo assoluto). It’s very simple!

The absolute superlative

La tua casa รจ bellissima!

The suffix -issimo, just like molto, means a lot and expresses a very high degree of a property. To form the absolute superlative, you just need to take the adjective, remove the -o or -e ending, add -issimo, and align it with gender and number.

Normal adjectiveAbsolute superlative
bellobellissimoLa tua casa รจ bellissimaYour house is beautiful
grandegrandissimoLe camere sono grandissimeThe rooms are very large

Bellissimo or molto bello?

Bellissimo and molto bello as well as grandissimo and molto grande basically mean the same, but -issimo is stronger than molto: Una casa bellissima is therefore more beautiful than una casa molto bella!
