Tear Along The Dotted Line is an original Italian animated series set in the fictional universe of Zerocalcare, who is also the writer and director of the series. The protagonists of Strappare Lungo i Bordi are Zerocalcare’s cult characters such as Secco, Sarah, the Wild Boar Friend and the iconic Armadillo, voiced by Valerio Mastandrea.

Tear Along The Dotted Line - What it is about
Tear Along The Dotted Line is set in the now-familiar universe of comic book artist Zerocalcare. It’s a story with flashbacks and anecdotes from childhood to the present, following the fate of Sarah and Secco as they head toward something incredibly difficult.
Tear Along The Dotted Line is a simple, direct series with a plot that is not too linear and coherent, because life itself is not as linear as Zerocalcare teaches us. It is nothing more than a dotted line that is torn at the edges, but never leaves a perfectly contoured outline.
This series tells life as it is, without meaning and without context. Zerocalcare draws the viewer into his own mind and lets him dialogue with his own conscience and thoughts. The series is an ebb and flow of emotional high points, ranging from typical “Roman” irony to moments of extreme seriousness that lead to reflection on the meaning of life.
The six episodes of Tear Along The Dotted Line are also filled with an endless number of pop culture references from the 1990s and 2000s, from Tiziano Ferro to Gilmore Girls, from Handmaid’s Tale to the to How I Met Your Mother. For anyone who grew up in those years, the series becomes a journey back in time, a romantic trip backwards, but also a great comfort to the heart.
Who is Zerocalcare?
Zerocalcare, real name Michele Rech, is an Italian comic artist born in Cortona (Tuscany) on December 12, 1983. The author of numerous works, he reached the milestone of more than one million copies of his books sold in 2019.
His first book La Profezia dell’Armadillo (Bao Publishing, 2011) was immediately highly acclaimed, but perhaps his best-known work is Kobane Calling (Bao Publishing, 2015), which chronicles the author’s journey through Turkey, Syria, and Iraq, documenting the Kurdish people’s resistance to ISIS. Kobane Calling has also been translated into English and is published by Magnetic Press. His most recent works include A Babbo Morto, un racconto di Natale (Bao Publishing, 2020).
